THE EGG
Since Virgil, the poet-magician of Dante’s Divine Comedy, tied the fate of his talisman-egg to that of Naples, a rich symbology developed around the Egg, which became the symbol of the city, of its identity and destiny. The artistic experience of artisan master Franco De Stefano takes place within the search for the roots of Neapolitan identity, aimed to rediscover symbols, myths, legends, and images from the historical tradition of a three-thousand-year-old city, which keeps the mysterious secret of being able to survive any adversity. Napul’egg is the fruit of suggestions taken from mythical views of Naples in the ‘700 and of the usage of materials rich in symbolism, such as lava stone from the Vesuvius volcano, or coral. Napul’egg is entirely handmade, representing the marvellous lost landscapes of ancient Naples, and its magical corners between sky, land, and sea, solemn protagonists of coveted destinations.
